Principal Center Therapist

Job Description:

The Principal Center Therapist is a part time position and is responsible for clinical and administrative duties associated with this school based mental health program.  These duties include conducting mental health assessments, evaluations and treatment planning, providing individual and group therapy, referrals to psychiatric services, crisis interventions and family counseling and therapy.  Also responsible for the oversight and quality assurance of Mental Health MediCal services at adolescent services, for providing eligibility information on all adolescent clients and helping Walden House to establish MediCal eligibility for clients with some barriers for coverage, for Insist and Vision operation duties to have client information and orders and interprets mental health reports from CBHS.

Responsibilities:  Provide mental health services to MediCal eligible adolescents participating in the Principal Center program.  Provide appropriate documentation for all services and submit all required administrative and clinical paperwork including billing, according to a predetermined schedule of deadlines.  Engage in treatment planning and case conferences with other key staff and participate in other meetings as required.  Develop and implement and activities program for parents and children.  This will involve providing counseling and instruction on parent/child engagement strategies with a focus in play and structures activities.
Administration and Compliance:  In accordance with guidelines established by Walden House to satisfy internal and external administrative demands, and those of evaluating agencies, maintains up to date, accurate paperwork on all clients

PREREQUISITES
• Master's in the Social Sciences (Psych, Social Work Etc)
• Previous experience working with adolescents and families
• Knowledge of child developmental issues
• Knowledge of group process, group facilitation, and conflict resolution. 
• Knowledge of addiction and the addictive process
• Ability to manage a diverse population
