Job Description:
The T.C. Counselor holds individual and group therapy sessions with clients in HIV Services. He/she helps to develop treatment plans focused on recovery, relapse, prevention and HIV/AIDS specific issues. The TC Counselor also provides guidance for 18-20 clients after the orientation phase of treatment. The Counselor facilitates group, individual, and other meetings as needed. The Counselor must periodically check house and client safety. He/she is responsible for client medication and any money needs when on duty.
PREREQUISITES
• High School diploma or GED
• Knowledge of pre-post HIV testing and counseling
• Knowledge of stages of HIV, risk reduction techniques and how HIV is transmitted.
• Knowledge of group process, facilitation, conflict resolution, and time management.
• Strong reading and analytical comprehension.
• Strong communication, grammar, spelling, and writing skills.
• Knowledge of the addictive process and the ability to handle a diverse population.
• A clear understanding of professional ethics, boundaries, and judgment.
• CAADE/CADAC certified or able to enroll in class within 6 months of employment
