Job Description:

The FOTEP (Female Offender Treatment and Employment Program) Child Care Counselor’s primary responsibility is to plan and activities for children.  S/he coaches their mothers and role models for them as they reunify with their children and practice effective parenting methods.  S/he is able to introduce a variety of activities, organize outings and will teach a parenting class and co-teach a parent support group, coach mothers and client-workers in the childcare center, where they will role model and also work with the children, as well as carry a small caseload of mothers. 

PREREQUISITES
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years minimum experience working with children
• Higher education in Childhood Development, Psychology, or Sociology.
• Knowledge of group process, facilitation and conflict resolution.
• Ability to handle diverse population.
• Good written communication skills with proper grammar, good spelling and legible handwriting.

COMPENSATION:  $12.02 per hour plus Walden House offers a full range of benefits for this position including medical, dental and vision, as well as 401(A) & 403(B) for all Full time employees.
