Job Description:

The Counselor’s primary responsibility is to support the development of a therapeutic community.  She/he achieves this by demonstrating leadership and integrity through her/his actions as a role model.  The Counselor is responsible for managing a caseload of incarcerated female clients throughout treatment.  He/she evaluates client’s needs, develops treatment plans, and facilitates counseling sessions.  The Counselor’s goals are to support the clients’ healthy development and assist them in their transition to continuing care upon release from prison.  The Counselor maintains up to date files and reports as required. 

PREREQUISITES:
• Ability to receive clearance from the Department of Corrections.
• Knowledge of group process, facilitation, and conflict resolution.
• Strong reading, writing and communication skills.
• Ability to demonstrate professional ethics, boundaries, and judgment.
• Drug and Alcohol or related certification, from ADP and CDC recognized agency or ability to register for certification within six months and become certified within five years
•  Knowledge of the addiction and Therapeutic Community model.
• Ability to work with a diverse population and maintain strong boundaries.
