A/P Lead Specialist

Job Description:

The A/P Lead Specialist, reporting to the A/P Supervisor, will be responsible for handling WH’s vendor relationships such as insurance, bond, property and leased equipment related matters in addition to performing routine accounts payable duties such as timely processing and payment of vendor invoices and staff reimbursements.  In addition, the position may work on special projects as needed and the following on a regular basis:

• Process heavy volume of invoices daily
• Use Excel heavily to maintain schedules and monthly spreadsheets
• Use cost allocations when coding invoices
• Will need to have worked with accrual based accounting (understanding when to code to the balance sheet instead of the income statement)
• Responsible for the monthly rent, insurance, employee reimbursements, leased equipment, petty cash reconciliations and payments
• Provide support and general assistance to Fiscal, vendors, employees as needed.
• Implement and carry out accounting procedures according to GAAP (Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles), and in compliance with all laws, regulatory requirements, and generally accepted standards and best practices applicable to the organization.
• Other duties, or projects, assigned by Fiscal management.
• Will assist with annual 1099-Miscellaneous processing and reporting

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
• A college degree from a four-year accredited institution in either Accounting, Business Administration or Economics with an emphasis in accounting strongly desired.
• A minimum of three (3) years in a similar position in a fast paced developing environment.
• Strong work experience with and understanding of 1099 processing and California Sales & Use Tax law
• Strong problem solving, analytical, time management, organization and customer service skills a MUST.
• Non-profit experience is preferred.
• Intermediate PC skills or better required, including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) concepts and procedures utilized in a non-profit environment is preferred.

COMPENSATION: A non-exempt full-time position with a 40-hour work week and competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is also provided.
